OUR PRESCHOOL SESSION IN HORSLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL
The playgroup has a good, close working relationship with Horsley Primary School and we are able to offer a regular session in the school reception classroom and dedicated outside area for children in their pre-school year (the year before they go to school).
This session is an integral part of our Wednesday sessions, and after lunch the staff and children do the short walk over to the school for the afternoon. This session serves as a really valuable opportunity for children to become familiar with the school environment and facilities of the classroom, outside play area and school playground. We also invited to join the school in celebrations like musical events and Christmas shows. These opportunities can be a very important part of the transition to school. The playgroup pre-school session was rated by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’ in all areas by in 2012 and again in 2015.
Please note that, although Horsley Playgroup has close links with Horsley Primary School, it is a separate entity with its own parent /committee management body and admission to Horsley Playgroup is not related to gaining a place at the school.
“The weekly pre-school sessions are tremendous; it makes school a very natural next step”.
“Excellent transition to school, it is seamless”.
