Our Approach
At our nursery, we are proud to follow the Reggio Emilia approach, which places children at the heart of their learning journey. We view every child as capable, curious, and full of potential. Our environment is thoughtfully designed to inspire exploration, creativity, and collaboration—encouraging children to express themselves in many different ways. Our educators work alongside the children, observing their interests and helping guide meaningful, project-based learning experiences. We also value strong partnerships with families, recognizing the importance of community in supporting each child's development.

Our Learning Environment
At Horsley Playgroup, we provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive through play. Our setting is thoughtfully designed to support every aspect of early development, offering a rich blend of guided activities and free play that encourages curiosity, creativity, and confidence.
Our playgroup space is bright, welcoming, and filled with age-appropriate resources that are easily accessible to children. From imaginative role-play areas and creative arts corners to sensory exploration tables and construction zones, each part of our environment invites discovery and active learning.
We place a strong emphasis on building positive relationships and creating a sense of belonging. Our experienced and caring staff foster a warm, inclusive atmosphere where every child feels valued, respected, and supported in their individual journey.
Daily routines offer a comforting rhythm while allowing flexibility for children to explore their own interests. Outdoor play is an important part of our day, giving children the opportunity to connect with nature, develop physical skills, and enjoy fresh air in a safe, enclosed garden space.
At Horsley Playgroup, learning truly happens through play – and our environment is designed to make every day a joyful adventure.
Our Facilities
Our nursery setting is designed to support a Reggio Emilia-inspired approach, where the environment acts as a key part of each child’s learning experience. We offer a range of high-quality, stimulating spaces that encourage curiosity, creativity, and exploration.
Children benefit from a secure on-site play area, ideal for both free play and guided learning. We regularly use the beautiful Horsley Playing Fields and Play Area, providing opportunities for physical development and outdoor discovery. Our close partnership with Horsley Primary School allows us to access their well-equipped playground and Forest School, where children can engage in hands-on, nature-based learning. We also have access to the reception class at Horsley Primary School, supporting a smooth and familiar transition for children moving on to their next stage of education.
Every space we use is carefully considered to reflect our values—encouraging independence, collaboration, and a lifelong love of learning.
